Meet our new Director of Religious Education, Grades 6-10 and Youth Minister!

My name is Matt Giles. I grew up in Ashland and graduated from Ashland High School in 2007. I have a BA in Philosophy from Emmanuel College in Boston and I’m currently only 6 weeks from graduating from Emmanuel again with a Masters of Education. I converted to the Faith in 2008 when I was a freshman at Stonehill College and spent four years studying for the priesthood as a Capuchin Franciscan. I spent most of my time as a Capuchin seminarian teaching children and young people and had the opportunity to work and teach in the Diocese of Brooklyn, the Archdiocese of New York, the Diocese of Salina (Kansas), and here in the Archdiocese of Boston as a catechist, youth minister, and classroom teacher. After discerning away from religious life, I decided to continue pursuing my love for the Faith and for teaching the Faith. In addition to my new responsibilities at St. Bridget’s, I also teach middle school Religion at Our Lady’s Academy in Waltham. I’m excited to start my new position as DRE, Grades 6-10 and becoming a part of the St. Bridget Family. I look forward to working with all of you!

Greetings! And may the peace and love of Christ be with each of you. It is my pleasure to introduce myself. My name is Jessica Valera and I am delighted to serve your parish family as Youth Minister! As a native of Massachusetts (growing up in the north-central part of the state), I felt the Lord calling me back to serve the youth in our area upon completing my college degrees. Throughout my high school and college years, I have been blessed to work with youth of all ages at various capacities – from preschool to middle and high school to even college-age students – all of which have fostered my love for young people and desire to help them encounter Christ through His Church! I completed my undergraduate college studies at Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio where I studied English, was involved in several ministries, and participated in both national and international mission trips, all of which the Lord then used to help lead me to pursue and recently complete my graduate degree in Catechetics and Evangelization through Franciscan University as well. I look forward to getting to know you all and am excited to be given this opportunity to serve St. Bridget Parish. May God continue to bless each of you and know that you are in my prayers as we begin this journey together.

Merry Christmas from all the priests of the Archdiocese of Boston!!

All of the money collected on Christmas throughout the Archdiocese of Boston, will be used for the Clergy Benefit Trust Fund.  This Christmas Collection supports the retirement, medical and financial needs of priests of the Archdiocese.  Because of rising health care costs and the increased number of retiring priests, the levels needed for funding have risen dramatically and the Clergy Benefit Trust is in immediate need of replenishment.  In gratitude for all that the priests have done for us, we strongly encourage you to give generously to this collection.

“The Sounds of Christmas” Concert

…will be presented on Saturday evening, December 10th at 7:00pm and Sunday afternoon, December 11th at 3:00pm.  There will be an audience sing-a-long of traditional Christmas carols.  Tickets are $5 for adults and children are free (all funds raised go to the Help-A-Student “HAS” Fund).  Tickets are available at the Rectory and will also be sold at the doors of the church on the day of the performance.

N.B.  Weather permitting, following the Sunday concert, we will gather at the Village Green in Framingham Centre on Edgell Rd. for the Blessing of the Christmas Crèche as well as some caroling.

Bambinelli Sunday

December 11, 2016

For the past several decades, each year on Gaudette Sunday, the Third Sunday of Advent, children and adults bring their Baby Jesus figures from the crib at their homes to St. Peter’s Square where the Pope will bless both the people and the figurines during the Angelus.

This year we will celebrate “Bambinelli Sunday” at our 9:30AM Family Mass on Sunday, December 11th. All are invited to bring the Baby Jesus figure from their homes to Mass that morning to be blessed.. Families can even make their own “bambinelli” if they want.

A suggestion is, following the blessing, take your “bambinelli” home and place it in a gift box, wrap it, and save it for Christmas. Let this be the first gift your family opens on Christmas, when together you place your Baby Jesus figure in the crib, and have a home blessing of the Nativity for your whole family.
